There's natural network latency (typically 50-200ms depending on your connection), but no artificial queuing or hidden processing.

Server Validates in Real-Time
Once your bid request reaches the server, it checks the auction status immediately using the server's authoritative clock.
If the auction is still open and your bid is valid, one ticket is deducted from your balance and you become the current high bidder.
The auction price increases by 1 cent and the updated state is sent back to all viewers.
This round-trip takes milliseconds, but it's measurable - and that's part of the strategy!

Timer Extension (Last 10 Seconds Only)
Here's the exciting part: if someone bids when there's less than 10 seconds remaining, the timer resets to 10 seconds. This creates intense final moments where strategy and timing are crucial.
Bids placed when the timer is above 10 seconds don't extend it - the countdown continues normally.
